Books I DNF’d and why 📖

I really try not to dnf books but sometimes I just have to for the sake of me. Here are a few:

1. Tell Me Lies: I know the concept of the book was to explore her toxic relationship but I couldn’t deal with the main guy in this. He was horrible and made me feel icky.

2. Sloppy Firsts: Very chaotic and felt a little young for me but talked about mature subjects which made me confused at which audience this was for.

3. The Off Limits Rule: The main character was so childish and cringey. I dnfd it after the scene in the salon with her friend iykyk. I also didn’t like how both love interests were interested in eachother right away because I am not into instalove.

4. Twisted Love: I knew this one had spice, I just didn’t know how much. And it was A LOT. For me at least and smut is something I DO NOT like.

5. Everything I Know About Love: I just had a really hard time relating to this book so it didn’t keep my interest that much. It wasn’t a bad book, it just wasn’t for me. I may pick it back up someday.

What are some books you dnfd?

... Read moreBooks are a gateway to different worlds, but not every story captivates us the way it should. The phenomenon of 'Did Not Finish' (DNF) books resonates with many readers; it's a personal journey where we often encounter stories that don’t resonate with our preferences or expectations. It's important to remember that each book affects us differently. In this article, I delve into some well-known titles that just didn’t hit the mark for me. For instance, 'Tell Me Lies' by Carola Lovering had a compelling concept about toxic relationships, yet the male protagonist's character turned me off completely. Similarly, 'Sloppy Firsts' tackled mature themes but felt mismatched with its target audience, leaving me confused and disengaged. Another title, 'The Off Limits Rule', introduced immature characters that frustrated me. The trope of instant attraction, commonly known as instalove, especially didn’t appeal to my taste. With 'Twisted Love', the abundant spice factor was overwhelming, reminding us that not all readers enjoy smut. Finally, 'Everything I Know About Love' presented a narrative that I struggled to connect with, making it difficult to stay invested. It's natural to set books aside and prioritize our mental health and enjoyment. Sharing our experience could help others find the books that truly resonate with them. What about you? Have you DNF'd any titles that you wish had turned out differently? Share your thoughts and let’s nurture our reading community!
