Forgiving myself has been one of the hardest things I've ever done and there are many layers to this. It's a lifelong process, rather than being something that is ever accomplished. This is also something that you allow yourself to do. It is not something you can force yourself to do. The "WORK" is mostly allowing ourselves to have the thoughts and feelings without making them or us wrong or bad.

I help survivors of narcissistic abuse reclaim their independence and manage their minds. Healing is inevitable when you have the right tools and support. Never be beholden to anyone again including your own thoughts.

... Read moreForgiving yourself after experiencing narcissistic abuse is truly one of the most challenging steps on the healing journey. From my own experience and those I've supported, self-forgiveness is not a single event but a continuous, sometimes day-to-day process. It requires patience and a compassionate mindset toward your own emotions and thoughts. In the beginning, it can feel impossible to face your feelings without judgment or guilt. However, allowing yourself to simply experience these emotions—without labeling them as 'bad' or 'wrong'—is transformative. One technique I found helpful is journaling, where I wrote down my thoughts and then reflected on them as if they belonged to someone else I cared about. This helped foster compassion for myself instead of harsh self-criticism. It’s also important to surround yourself with support, whether it be through coaching, therapy, or supportive communities that understand narcissistic abuse recovery. Healing becomes inevitable when you equip yourself with the right tools and make a commitment to self-care. This includes challenging negative thought patterns and learning to manage your mind so you don’t remain beholden to past trauma or internalized blame. Through this process, you start reclaiming your independence and gain clarity on your worth outside of the abuse. Remember, the work is about progress, not perfection. Celebrate small milestones in forgiving yourself and keep in mind this journey is unique to you. If you feel stuck, reaching out for specialized support can provide guidance tailored to your experience. Forgiving yourself opens the door to freedom from your past and empowers you to live a balanced, fulfilling life.
