National Tabby Day

Shere Khan named after the tiger 🐅 in the Jungle Book why I picked a villian for my cat's name who knows? Maybe that's why he was so naughty sometimes. SOME Crimes he committed:

Opening closed doors

Chewing steps until they had to be replaced

Fishing in my Brother in laws fish tank

Chewing bread still in the plastic

Eating tomatoes left on window sills

Stealing an Arby's sandwich right from my Mother's hand.

Salvation from crimes was he would sleep with me every night making sure my head didnt get cold, walking on a leash, cuddling, laughter and love so much laughter and love. He lived to be about 17years old.

Do you have or had a special tabby in your life?

... Read moreNational Tabby Day, celebrated each year on April 28th, is a wonderful occasion to honor the unique personality and charm of Tabby cats. These cats, known for their distinctive striped or spotted coats, often have lively and mischievous behaviors that their owners learn to cherish over time. From personal experience, my Tabby was a bundle of playful energy mixed with surprising affection. Just like Shere Khan, many Tabby cats can be a little mischievous. My Tabby loved sneaking into closed cabinets and sometimes knocked over houseplants during her playful explorations. But these little acts always brought amusement rather than frustration. What stands out about Tabby cats is their strong bond with their owners. Mine would always curl up beside me, providing warmth and comfort, especially on chilly nights. Their purring can be incredibly soothing, and knowing that a Tabby cat chooses to be near you is a heartwarming experience. In addition to their personalities, caring for Tabby cats requires regular grooming to keep their coat healthy and shiny. They also benefit from enrichment activities like puzzle feeders and interactive toys to keep their curious minds engaged. Celebrating National Tabby Day is a great moment to reflect on the joy these cats bring into our lives. Whether it’s their playful antics—such as fishing from a fish tank or stealthily stealing food—or their quiet moments of affection, Tabby cats make memorable companions. If you have a Tabby cat or once did, sharing stories about their funny or loving behavior in online communities using hashtags like #nationaltabbyday and #tabbycat can connect you with fellow cat lovers. It’s a daily reminder that behind every mischievous deed lies a loving friend who brightens our days in countless ways.
