your weight can go up without it meaning you did anything wrong.
the scale reflects everything, water, food, hormones, inflammation, digestion, not just fat.
but most people aren’t taught that, so they panic. they restrict. they start over. again and again.
if you’ve been spiraling over the number, this is your reminder: the goal isn’t to weigh less every day, it’s to understand your body better.
progress isn’t linear. the more you learn, the less you stress.

From personal experience, I’ve found that weight fluctuation is a normal part of the body’s natural processes and doesn’t always indicate fat gain. For example, eating more carbs one day can cause your body to retain water, which shows as weight gain on the scale but is temporary. Similarly, muscle inflammation after a hard workout can make you hold onto water while your body repairs itself. Hormonal changes, especially before menstruation, can also cause water retention and bloating, leading to an increased number on the scale without any increase in fat. I also noticed that skipping water actually led to more retention, as my body tried to conserve fluid. And late or heavy meals can slow digestion, making me weigh more temporarily. What truly helped me was shifting focus from daily scale numbers to understanding my body’s patterns and overall fitness journey. Progress isn’t linear, and learning these facts reduces stress and helps me make smarter, healthier choices over time. Remember, the scale tells you more than just fat — it’s about listening to your body and trusting the process.
This is so helpful, i always get scared when i see myself go from 104 to 105
