Deep End
4 overall stars
Great story that kept me wanting to keep reading
Characters: 3/5
Engagement: 3/5
Quality: 5/5
Storyline: 2/5
Spice: 5/5
World Building 4/5
Let’s start with the characters:
I loved Scarlett and Luke’s chemistry when they’re together. Luke has a way of turning off Scarlett’s brain which overly active , much like most of us females 😂
My dislike revolves around Scarlett’s inability to commit when it’s painfully obvious how devoted Luke is to her/them as a couple.
Scarlett’s friends came across in a way that felt off and I don’t think that was the authors intention, but I couldn’t figure out if anyone was truly a friend until the very end.
Engagement: Honestly, I was hooked on this story because I was so anxious for the next spicy scene!! It was THAT good! And the male narrator in this story with that accent 🤭🥵
Quality: No complaints. Editors did a fantastic job with grammar
Storyline: Here’s where it fell short for me. The storyline was interesting and kept me going with the overall plot, but individual scenes revolving around the characters and their development felt slightly strained, especially towards the end. It felt too unrealistic which, let’s be honest, is almost a ridiculous notion because this is a 𝕗𝕚𝕔𝕥𝕚𝕠𝕟𝕒𝕝 𝕤𝕥𝕠𝕣𝕪, but some of the emotional turmoil Scarlett put herself through felt so unnecessary.
Spice: 5/5 🌟 Holy guacamole!!!! This right here! The narrators! The writing of these scenes! The power he holds over her! The way she 𝓝𝓔𝓔𝓓𝓢 him to be in charge! The way he talks and the things he says!!! I have no words! For this reason alone, my rating was bumped up to 4 stars. I truly could not get enough of these emotionally beautiful scenes!
World building: Overall, the story was good, lots of specialized knowledge required between the Olympics & the science and I swear Ali Hazelwood has such an incredible brain because she was able to make science seem interesting 🤭 Totally awe inspiring!!
In typical fashion, I enjoyed this story as an immersive reading experience. The narrators did such an amazing job bringing these characters to life
