Chicken and Fries
One of my favorite go-to meals when feeding a big family is definitely chicken and fries. It’s simple to prepare and everyone enjoys the combination of crispy fries with tender chicken. What I’ve found helpful is to bake the fries in the oven while pan-frying or air-frying the chicken, so everything comes out warm and crunchy without excess oil. Choosing the right type of chicken is key – I usually opt for boneless, skinless breasts or thighs. Thighs tend to stay juicier, especially if you marinate them beforehand. A quick marinade with olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, and some herbs adds great flavor but you can also go for a simple seasoning of salt, pepper, and paprika for a classic taste. When it comes to fries, homemade is always best if you have the time. Cutting fresh potatoes into strips and soaking them briefly in cold water before baking helps achieve a crispier texture. For convenience, a good quality frozen fry brand can work just as well, saving prep time especially when cooking for many kids. To make the meal more balanced, I like tossing a fresh side salad or steamed veggies alongside. This way, the meal isn’t just comfort food but also brings some nutritional value to the table. Cooking chicken and fries for a large family can definitely be manageable with these tips, keeping the process efficient without sacrificing taste and texture. If you want to add some dipping sauces, honey mustard or a spicy mayo always go down a treat with kids and adults alike. Overall, chicken and fries remain a classic, delicious, and family-friendly option that I rely on often.
