All Aboard for Nostalgia, Rails, and Adventure
Travel Town Museum is one of those places that makes you feel like a kid again—whether you’re 6 or 60. Nestled in Griffith Park, it’s more than just a museum—it’s an open-air playground of massive locomotives, classic train cars, and that unmistakable scent of history baked under the California sun.
What I loved most was how hands-on everything is. You can actually climb aboard some of the train cars and peek inside the cabins. For kids, it’s a dream—imagination runs wild when you’re pretending to be a conductor or engineer. But for adults? It’s a quiet trip back in time, especially seeing vintage passenger cars, freight engines, and reading the plaques that tell stories of travel long before planes and Ubers.
There’s also a mini train that loops around the museum grounds—perfect if you're with little ones or just want to enjoy the breeze while taking it all in. It’s charming, low-key, and totally free (except for the train ride, which is super affordable).
It’s the kind of spot you stumble on once, then keep coming back to.
