Real Fasting Looks Different
✨A Light 💡in the Night🌙
Good evening my blessed family 🙏🏾💫
Here’s a REALITY check 💡… if what you’re doing doesn’t draw you closer to GOD, it’s not BIBLICAL FASTING 🙏🏾. It may be DISCIPLINE, but it’s not FASTING 🔥.
Fasting is about DENYING the flesh 🍽️ and FEEDING your SPIRIT 📖. It’s about replacing FOOD with PRAYER 🙏🏾, WORSHIP 🎶, and SEEKING God’s FACE 👀. It’s about DEPENDENCE on Him, not just TEMPORARY DISCOMFORT.
When we FAST, we are saying, “Lord, I need YOU more than anything” 🤍✨. That’s where BREAKTHROUGH 💥 and CLARITY come. Not in the act itself… but in the CONNECTION 🕊️. No judgement, just TRUTH!
So during this season, don’t just give something up… REPLACE it 🙌🏾. Make room for GOD and watch how He MOVES in your life 💫.
🕊️Scriptures to Meditate On🙏🏾
Ezra 8:21
Psalm 35:13

From my own experience with fasting, I've found that true fasting is much more than abstaining from food or certain items like soda—it’s about cleansing the spirit and inviting God’s presence into every moment. When I first fasted just for discipline, like giving up soda during Lent, I noticed it was mainly about resisting temptation. But as I began to replace that time and space with prayer and worship, my fasting took on a new, powerful meaning. Fasting offers a unique opportunity to slow down and focus completely on God. It teaches us to deny the flesh while nourishing our spirit. This shift from focusing on what we give up to what we embrace spiritually is crucial. It's through this dedication to seek God’s face, as the article suggests, that breakthroughs happen—not merely from the physical act. Additionally, fasting can bring clarity to situations that seem confusing or overwhelming. It’s a spiritual reset that leads to greater sensitivity to God’s guidance. One practical tip I found helpful was to journal during my fasts—writing down prayers, reflections, and the scriptures that stood out, such as Ezra 8:21 and Psalm 35:13, provided a deeper connection and insight. Remember, fasting isn’t about temporary discomfort or legalism. It’s a heartfelt declaration that God is our ultimate source and sustainer. By intentionally replacing food or certain habits with focused spiritual activities, as highlighted in the article, we create space for God to move in profound ways in our lives. If you’re considering fasting, start with a clear purpose: to draw closer to God and nourish your spirit, not just to give something up. The transformation you seek lies in the connection, not the sacrifice alone.
