Narcissists often reserve their abusive behaviors for specific individuals while maintaining a charming and 'nice' demeanor toward others. This selective targeting can make it difficult for victims to validate their own experiences, especially if they hear others say the abuser ‘always seems nice.’ Understanding that narcissists are highly calculated in their interactions is key. They tailor their behavior to manipulate perceptions, making it seem like abuse isn’t happening. But just because they put on an act of kindness for many doesn’t mean the abuse directed at you didn’t occur or isn’t real. This dynamic is similar to how a criminal may not harm everyone, but the harm to the victim remains very real and significant. Recognizing this helps in affirming your experience and seeking the right support and recovery strategies. Engaging with communities that discuss #narctok and other support forums has been invaluable for sharing stories and breaking the isolation that often accompanies this kind of abuse. If you suspect you are a target of narcissistic abuse, understanding this nuanced behavior can empower you to set boundaries, prioritize self-care, and pursue recovery more confidently.

Calling narcissistic abuse for what it is isn’t mean
Apparently using the correct word to describe a narcissist and being able to name the abuse is “going too far.” 😂🤦🏻‍♀️ Meanwhile they called us every name in the book. Tell me in the comments - what’s the most outrageous thing the narcissist in your life ever called you? #narctok
