The amygdala is an important gland located deep within the temporal lobes of the brain. It is involved with the "fight or flight" reaction. If the amygdala senses that you are in danger, it sends nerve impulses to the hypothalamus, which activates the pituitary gland, which activates the adrenal glands to produce the stress hormones known as adrenaline, noradrenaline and cortisol, triggering the fight or flight response. Symptoms include:

* Anxiousness

* Easily startled

* Difficulty sleeping

* High blood sugar

* Fast heart rate

* Digestive problems

... Read moreThe amygdala is a crucial structure situated deep within the temporal lobes of the brain, playing a significant role in emotional processing and the body's response to threats. When the amygdala perceives danger, it activates a complex neuroendocrine cascade beginning with the hypothalamus, which signals the pituitary gland. In turn, this stimulates the adrenal glands to release stress hormones such as adrenaline, noradrenaline, and cortisol. This response is known as the fight or flight reaction, which prepares the body to either face or escape perceived danger. Imbalances or chronic overactivation of the amygdala can manifest as various physical and psychological symptoms. These include anxiousness, a heightened startle response, difficulty sleeping, elevated blood sugar levels, fast heart rate, and digestive disturbances. Such symptoms are indicative of the body’s prolonged exposure to stress hormones, which can negatively impact overall health. Recent research highlights that the amygdala’s function is not solely limited to immediate threat responses but also influences long-term emotional regulation and memory formation. These insights emphasize the relevance of managing stress effectively to support amygdala health. Techniques such as mindfulness, energy healing practices (noted in the original article’s hashtags like #energyhealing and #reikimaster), and addressing lifestyle factors including nutrition and toxin exposure may help regulate amygdala activity and improve symptoms. The image OCR content further suggests that an unhappy or dysregulated amygdala might be linked to energy pathogens, misaligned body circuits, and lifestyle factors. This holistic approach to understanding amygdala symptoms supports strategies that integrate mind-body therapies and systemic health considerations for maintaining nervous system balance and emotional well-being. For individuals experiencing persistent symptoms related to amygdala dysfunction, consulting healthcare professionals specialized in neurology or psychology may provide targeted interventions. Exploring complementary therapies alongside conventional treatment can offer a comprehensive path towards restoring balance and enhancing resilience against stress. Overall, understanding how the amygdala operates and recognizing its impact on both mental and physical health is crucial. This knowledge empowers individuals to adopt proactive measures in managing stress and supporting emotional equilibrium, thereby improving quality of life.

A slide explaining that during a tantrum, the amygdala (alarm system) overrides the underdeveloped prefrontal cortex (logic) in young children, making tantrums an involuntary brain response, not a choice.
A slide listing common tantrum triggers like being tired, hungry, unexpected changes, hearing 'no,' and overstimulation. It advises checking HALT (Hungry, Angry, Lonely, Tired) first.

Here’s the thing nobody told me about tantrums: You literally cannot reason with a child in the middle of one. Not because they’re stubborn. Because the part of the brain that processes language and logic has completely gone offline. The amygdala, the brain’s alarm system, has taken over. Cor
