Sometimes faith looks like staying…
Being in an ICU room with a critically ill family member is one of the most intense emotional experiences anyone can face. I remember when my own faith was put to the test under similar circumstances. Holding onto hope felt almost impossible as fear and exhaustion took over. Through this, I learned that sometimes faith isn’t about having grand moments of spiritual clarity or confidence, but rather about the quiet persistence of simply staying present and trusting grace when you feel weakest. The verse from 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 resonates deeply: 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' This scripture became a lifeline, reminding me that it's okay to feel vulnerable and overwhelmed. It is in those moments of honesty and brokenness that grace and divine strength can truly shine. I found that emotions like fear and uncertainty are natural, but they don’t negate faith—they reshape it. For me, praying while feeling almost empty of strength was a powerful act of faith itself. Holding my baby in my arms, barely knowing how to pray, was a reminder that faith doesn’t require perfection, only openness to receive help. If you find yourself struggling to keep faith in times of crisis, remember that staying—being present with the situation and allowing space for your feelings—is an act of faith. It’s a step toward embracing grace, even when circumstances feel unbearable. This perspective helped me experience God’s presence and support in a deeply personal way, showing me that faith is often about endurance rather than instant reassurance. In sharing this, I hope others navigating similar struggles can find comfort in knowing that faith sometimes means choosing to stay, to hold on, and to rely on grace when all else feels lost.
