study time! I feel like I'm taking forever to get through chapter 4, I hate reading 😫 #study #coding #school

3/27 Edited to

... Read moreWhen tackling demanding subjects like physician coding, staying motivated can be tough, especially if you find reading chapters long and tedious. I’ve been there too—spending hours staring at the page but feeling stuck. One helpful approach is breaking your reading into smaller segments with scheduled breaks, so your brain doesn’t get overwhelmed. For example, try the Pomodoro technique: 25 minutes of focused reading followed by a 5-minute break. This method not only keeps your mind fresh but also creates a sense of accomplishment as you complete each segment. In addition, actively engaging with the material makes a huge difference. Instead of passively reading, take notes, underline key points, or even explain concepts out loud to yourself. This engages different parts of your brain and improves retention. For coding specifically, try to connect the theoretical knowledge with real-life cases or practice problems—it helps solidify your understanding. It also helps to create a motivating study environment: find a quiet, well-lit space, remove distractions like phones or social media, and have all your study tools handy. Some students find listening to soft instrumental music or white noise aids concentration, while others prefer complete silence. Experiment to discover what works best for you. Lastly, connecting with others studying similar topics can provide motivation. Joining forums or study groups where you can share challenges and tips tends to make the study process less isolating. Remember, persistence is key—even if you hate reading, consistent, focused effort will pay off over time.
