Wash & Retwist
Getting a fresh wash and retwist is one of my favorite parts of my loc journey! There’s just something so satisfying about that feeling of perfectly clean, neatly parted, and freshly styled locs. I recently got mine done, and I had to share how amazing they feel and look. It’s not just any wash; it’s a deep cleanse that gets rid of any build-up and leaves your scalp feeling incredibly refreshed. I always make sure my loctician uses a good clarifying shampoo to really get in there. There’s nothing worse than an itchy scalp, and a proper wash totally prevents that. After the wash, my locs feel so light and clean, ready for the retwist. The retwist itself is pure magic. Watching my loctician carefully separate each loc, making sure they’re neatly parted and then twisting them from the root – it’s an art form! The goal is to tighten the new growth to the existing loc, which helps them mature and keeps them looking tidy. I usually go for a palm-rolling technique, which creates that smooth, defined look. It’s amazing how much a good retwist can transform your entire appearance, making your dreadlocks look sharp and well-maintained. Mine were dark and glossy, perfectly showing off the definition. After the retwist, the drying process is key. Sometimes I sit under a hooded dryer, or other times I let them air dry, depending on how much time I have. It’s crucial they dry completely to prevent mildew and keep them smelling fresh. Once they're dry, they feel so secure and look incredibly polished.
