2026 INS & OUTS: Burnout Recovery Edition
Here’s what I’m choosing more of in 2026… and what I’m finally letting go of.
If you’re done over-functioning, over-apologizing, and under-valuing your own needs, this one’s for you.
Which IN or OUT hits hardest right now?

From my experience navigating burnout recovery, embracing clear boundaries and self-compassion has been transformative. Saying "no" without long explanations helps maintain personal energy without guilt. It's liberating to realize boundaries don't need justifications — "No" can genuinely be a full sentence. Solo trips or soul retreats have also been vital. Taking time for yourself to recharge mentally and emotionally allows clearer perspective and healing. I’ve learned that wanting space or adventure isn’t selfish but essential self-care. Another insight is the importance of honest emotional acknowledgment. Recognizing grief and growth simultaneously allows you to process complex feelings without forcing a facade of "I'm fine." This authentic approach fosters true healing instead of masking burnout. Choosing rest as an essential, non-negotiable act has been key. Burnout isn’t a badge of honor, and exhaustion isn’t proof of dedication. Valuing rest as a fundamental part of well-being shifts mindset from over-functioning to sustainable living. Finally, letting go of over-apologizing and feeling guilty for prioritizing personal needs has been freeing. Guilt often stems from conditioning rather than intuition. By gently retraining our responses, we reclaim empowerment to put ourselves first without hesitation. In short, the INS & OUTS approach outlined here resonates deeply with anyone ready to stop people-pleasing and start prioritizing self-respect and restoration. It’s about choosing what fuels you in 2026 and releasing what depletes you with grace and intention.
