Orange Zest Brioche French Toast Recipe

Ingredients:

* For the French Toast:

* 4-6 slices of your orange zest brioche, about 1-inch thick

* 4 large eggs

* 1 cup whole milk or heavy cream (or a mix)

* 1/4 cup fresh orange juice (optional, but enhances the orange flavor)

* 1-2 tablespoons granulated sugar

* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

* 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)

* Pinch of salt

* Butter, for cooking

* Optional Toppings:

* Powdered sugar

* Maple syrup

* Fresh berries (especially raspberries or blueberries)

* Whipped cream

* Orange marmalade.

Instructions:

* Prepare the Custard:

* In a shallow dish or bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk (or cream), orange juice (if using), sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon (if using), and salt.

* Soak the Brioche:

* Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat.

* Dip each slice of brioche into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for about 30 seconds to 1 minute per side. The brioche will absorb the custard beautifully.

* Cook the French Toast:

* Melt a tablespoon of butter in the hot skillet.

* Place the soaked brioche slices onto the skillet, and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.

* Repeat with the remaining brioche slices, adding more butter to the skillet as needed.

* Serve:

* Transfer the cooked French toast to plates.

* Top with your desired toppings, such as powdered sugar, maple syrup, fresh berries, or whipped cream.

Tips for Success:

* Brioche Thickness:

* Thicker slices of brioche will create a richer, more decadent French toast.

* Soaking Time:

* Don't over-soak the brioche, as it can become too soggy. But allow it enough time to absorb the custard.

* Cooking Temperature:

* Maintain a medium heat to ensure the French toast cooks evenly without burning.

* Variations:

* For an extra layer of orange flavor, you can add a little bit of orange zest to the egg mixture.

* For a more decadent french toast, you can use heavy cream instead of milk.

Orange-Infused Honey

Here's a simple and delicious recipe:

Orange-Infused Honey Recipe

Ingredients:

* 1 cup honey (a mild-flavored honey like acacia or clover works well)

* Zest of 2 medium oranges (preferably organic)

* 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice (optional, for a more intense flavor)

Instructions:

* Zest the Oranges:

* Thoroughly wash the oranges. Using a microplane or fine grater, zest the oranges, being careful to avoid the white pith, which can be bitter.

* Combine Ingredients:

* In a small saucepan, combine the honey and orange zest. If you're using orange juice, add it now.

* Heat Gently:

* Heat the mixture over low heat, stirring occasionally, until the honey is warm and the zest has infused its flavor. Do not boil the honey, as this can alter its flavor and texture.

* Steep:

* Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the honey steep for at least 30 minutes to an hour, or even longer for a more intense orange flavor.

* Strain (Optional):

* If you prefer a smooth honey without zest pieces, strain the honey through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth.

* Store:

* Transfer the orange-infused honey to a clean, airtight jar. Store it at room temperature.

Tips and Variations:

* Orange Juice Intensity:

* If you use orange juice, be aware that it can slightly thin the honey.

* Spice It Up:

* For a more complex flavor, you can add a cinnamon stick or a few cloves to the honey while it's heating.

* Longer Infusion:

* The longer you let the orange zest infuse, the stronger the orange flavor will be.

* Storage:

* Infused honey can be stored for several weeks at room temperature.
