A week on creatine update ✨

I decided I wanted to take my fitness journey more seriously. I’ve been looking into creatine for awhile and finally tried it. So far I’m loving it💪🏾 #creatinetransformation #fitnessjourney

... Read moreWhen I first started seriously looking into my fitness, creatine kept popping up everywhere. Like many of you, I was a bit hesitant at first, wondering if it was really for 'girls' or if I'd just get bulky. But after seeing so many positive stories, I decided to take the leap and began my own creatine journey. My starting point on JANUARY 27TH was feeling good about getting back into a consistent routine, but I wanted that extra push, that feeling of strength, and maybe some more visible results. I chose to do a loading phase, taking about 5g four times a day for the first five days, then switched to a maintenance dose of 5g daily. I mixed it with water or my protein shake, making sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day – that's super important with creatine, ladies! Within just a few days, I honestly started feeling a difference in my workouts. I had more endurance, felt stronger during lifts, and could push out those extra reps. This increased capacity meant my muscles were getting a better stimulus, which is key for growth and definition. By FEB 7TH, exactly one week after starting, I was mind-blown when I looked in the mirror. I could actually see 'A crazy week difference in my abs'! It wasn't just a feeling; there was a noticeable improvement in definition and fullness that wasn't there before. Now, let's talk about what's really happening. Creatine helps your muscles produce energy during heavy lifting or high-intensity exercise. For women, this can translate to better workout performance, leading to more muscle gain and, yes, a more toned physique. It also draws water into your muscle cells, which can make your muscles look fuller and, in some cases, can contribute to that initial feeling of 'bloating' or slight weight gain. Don't panic if the scale goes up a little in the first week – it's likely water in your muscles, not fat! This intramuscular water retention is what helps create that 'fuller' look, which I definitely saw in my abdominal area. If you're a girl considering creatine, here are a few things I learned in my first week: Hydration is key: Seriously, drink more water than you think you need. It helps with creatine absorption and minimizes any potential stomach discomfort. Consistency matters: Take it every day, even on rest days, to keep your muscle creatine stores topped up. Expect initial water retention: It’s normal, and it’s a sign the creatine is working by pulling water into your muscles. This is where some of that 'fuller' look comes from. Pair with strength training: Creatine isn't a magic pill; it enhances your performance. You still need to put in the work at the gym to see those "before and after" results. Choose creatine monohydrate: It's the most studied, effective, and affordable form. Seeing such a quick and positive change, especially with my abs looking more defined in just one week, has been incredibly motivating. It's truly helped me take my fitness journey more seriously, just like I originally hoped. If you're looking for that extra edge to boost your strength, performance, and see some real changes, I highly recommend looking into creatine. It’s been a game-changer for me, and I’m excited to see what more progress the future holds!
