Our trip to Covington,GA AKA Mystic Falls

My recent trip to Covington, GA, truly felt like stepping right into Mystic Falls, and I can't recommend it enough for any Vampire Diaries fan! Beyond the initial excitement, I discovered so many hidden gems and practical tips that made my second visit even better. If you’re planning your own adventure to the real-life home of the Salvatore brothers and Elena Gilbert, here’s what I learned. First off, you absolutely cannot miss the iconic Covington Square, often referred to as the Mystic Falls Town Square. This is where so much of the action happened in the show! The historic brick building with the clock tower is instantly recognizable and a perfect spot for photos. Imagine Stefan and Damon walking by – it’s that authentic! There are cute shops and cafes around the square, making it a great place to grab a coffee and soak in the atmosphere. The square is truly the heart of 'Mystic Falls' and you'll find yourself revisiting it often. Next on your list should be Elena Gilbert's house. It's located at 2104 Floyd Street NE, though in the show, the address was often referenced as 2129 East Street SE. It's a private residence, so remember to be respectful when taking photos from the street. Seeing that familiar white house with the porch, where so many pivotal moments occurred, gave me chills! The owners often decorate for holidays, and during my visit, it had lovely Christmas wreaths. It really brings the show to life. No Mystic Falls trip is complete without seeing the Salvatore Mansion and the Lockwood Mansion. While the actual Salvatore boarding house used for filming interior shots is not in Covington, there's a fantastic 'SALVATORE MANSION REPLICA' that truly captures the grandeur of the show's iconic home. It’s perfect for those memorable photo ops! The Lockwood Mansion, known as the 'mayor's house' in the show, is actually the beautiful Worthington Manor. You'll recognize its grand columns and stately appearance. Both are private properties, so admire them from a distance. I even spotted some festive decorations, adding to the charm. For those wondering about Caroline Forbes' house, it's another private residence in the area, adding to the charm of the self-guided tour. Many of the 'Mystic Falls tours' offered by local companies are fantastic for getting insider information and seeing multiple locations efficiently. They often point out smaller details you might otherwise miss, like the "Welcome to MYSTIC FALLS VIRGINIA 1860" sign, which is a popular photo spot. It’s amazing how many landmarks from the show are concentrated right here in Covington, making it feel like a truly immersive experience. Beyond the TVD locations, Covington itself is a charming Southern town with its own history. But for fans, it truly is where Mystic Falls is located. My advice? Wear comfortable shoes, keep your camera ready, and prepare to feel like you’ve stepped into your favorite fictional town. It’s a 10/10 recommendation from me, and I’m already dreaming of my next visit!
