Just finished American Assassin and I get the hype now. It follows Mitch Rapp before he’s the feared CIA operative everyone knows, when he’s first recruited and pushed through insanely intense training. The whole story starts with personal revenge but quickly turns into something bigger. It’s fast, gritty, and honestly hard to put down. If you like spy thrillers that actually keep you turning pages, this one delivers. Worth picking up, but not on my top reads
Having recently finished Vince Flynn’s American Assassin, I can truly appreciate why this book gets so much hype. It’s not just your typical spy novel—it dives deep into the transformation of Mitch Rapp from a regular person into a highly skilled CIA operative. What I found especially compelling was how the story starts with a personal revenge motive but quickly escalates into a much larger and more complex espionage plot. While it may not have topped my personal favorite list, American Assassin definitely deserves a spot on anyone’s thriller bookshelf. For those new to spy fiction or fans of fast-paced action and layered storytelling, Vince Flynn offers a captivating entry point. The book also opens doors to exploring the entire Mitch Rapp series, which delves further into political intrigue and covert operations. In my reading experience, the balance between action, character depth, and suspense is well struck, which keeps the story engaging. If readers are looking for a spy thriller with strong protagonists and authentic spycraft elements, American Assassin is a great pick.
