My art journal this past week has been filled with a lot of unrelated stuff. Things I painted recently has had a significant amount of correlations with the emotions I hv felt lately which has been a roller coaster by the way. Am glad I found a way to express myself again other than words.
We all need some creative outlets, and this for me is one!! #fyp #mum #art #watercolorpainting #emotions
Art journaling and watercolor painting have been incredibly powerful tools in helping me navigate the ups and downs of my emotions. I've found that putting brush to paper allows me to externalize feelings that are difficult to articulate with words alone. Each stroke captures a specific mood or thought, which helps me to better understand and manage the roller coaster of feelings I experience. Engaging regularly in creative activities like these not only provides an outlet for emotions but also promotes mindfulness and relaxation. When I paint, whether abstract or representational, my focus shifts away from stress and onto the process of creation itself. This shift has been instrumental in reducing anxiety and improving my overall mental well-being. Moreover, art journaling serves as a personal archive of emotional growth over time. Revisiting past pages reveals patterns and progress, giving me insights into my emotional journey. Adding watercolor techniques enriches the visual texture and depth, making each piece uniquely expressive. I encourage anyone feeling overwhelmed or stuck to try creative outlets as a form of self-expression. You don’t have to be a skilled artist to benefit—it's about the process and connection to your inner world. Whether you paint, draw, write, or use mixed media, the key is to find a medium that resonates with you and makes room for emotional exploration. In my experience, using art to explore emotions has also fostered greater self-compassion and patience. When I struggle with negative emotions, I remind myself that it’s okay to express them visually instead of bottling them up. This creative practice has become a nurturing space for healing and self-discovery, proving that art is more than just decoration—it’s a vital part of emotional health.
