Living with the Burden of PCOS 💭
Good morning everyone,
I am typing this in my bed as I have had to take another day off of work due to this condition.
Yesterday, I could not even be on my phone as the pain was so bad that I passed out twice from it. 1500mg of prescribed naproxen (over the limit) did not even work to get rid of the pain. Multiple large blood clots would continue to come out of me throughout the day as I would scream in pain.
What is PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome):
Well, PCOS is actually an adrenal disorder that is the imbalance of hormones within the female body. This hormonal dysfunction may cause (in my case) painful cyst in the ovaries, irregular periods (14 days late every month lately) , extremely painful and bloody periods with clots, bloating, nausea, severe mood changes (a lot depression/anxiety), hirtuism (extra hair growth). + many more symptoms (I only listed the ones I have)
In a sense, this disorder has ruined my life and there is no cure for it. The worse thing about it is that I’d known I had it since I was 15 but doctors would not listen to me because (cramps are normal). They did not understand the severity of it. PCOS is very under diagnosed and it took me until 2023 to receive a diagnosed because I pushed to get an ultra sound to look for those cysts.
Does anyone else struggle with PCOS? Is there anything that works for you that isn’t birth control? (BC made it worse and made me extremely sick)

A word of advice - if your doc is not believing you, request what is called a trans vaginal ultrasound. This is what I did because they did not believe me due to the bloodwork & because I was “small”. They assumed I was healthy. And with my diagnoses the only thing they told me was to “not gain weight”..
