Graduated Basic Training with 2 broken hips!

August 12, 2023 I graduated basic training with 4 fractures in my right hip and 2 in my left hip. Spent the next 4 months on crutches. By December I’d lost so much of my range of motion I couldn’t sit with my legs cross cross today June 8th, 2024 10 months later I’m almost back to doing a split. #recovery #flexible #brokenhips #army #basictraining #MILITARY #injury

... Read moreGraduating from basic training is a significant achievement for many, but it becomes even more extraordinary when faced with physical challenges. Experiencing multiple fractures in both hips during such a demanding phase can be daunting. However, maintaining a positive mindset and setting achievable goals is crucial for recovery. Engaging in tailored physical therapy can greatly aid in regaining mobility and flexibility, especially after such injuries. Incorporating stretches and strength-building exercises into a daily routine may help address issues like reduced range of motion and discomfort. Communities focused on recovery can provide support and motivation, showcasing personal stories of overcoming obstacles, thus inspiring others. Joining forums or support groups focused on injuries and recovery can foster connections with those who share similar experiences. These platforms often offer valuable insights into managing pain and developing effective rehabilitation strategies. As individuals progress through their recovery journey, celebrating small victories—like regaining the ability to perform a split—can be incredibly fulfilling. Committing to consistent training, guided by professional advice, plays a key role in returning to pre-injury capabilities and improving overall health. Remember, each step forward is a testament to resilience—a theme resonating deeply within the military community and beyond.

Stronger Hips = Safer Knees and Heavier Lifts ✨
Weak hips often lead to faulty knee mechanics. When the external rotators of the hip are underdeveloped, the femur loses control during dynamic movements—especially in squats, lunges, and step-ups. This creates torque at the knee joint, increasing the risk of pain and instability over time. Thi

If your legs feel heavy or look bulky, it’s not always about fat. Tight hips can limit proper muscle activation and overload your quads. Add hip mobility + glute work 3 times a week — and watch your legs change. Strong. Mobile. Lean. Follow for smart training — no extremes. #legmovements
