My NYC College Journey
This is my sophomore year, and looking back, I can see just how much has changed since freshman year. Last year, NYC hit me hard – the city’s energy, constant motion, and sheer size felt overwhelming. I actually took a semester to go back home and continue online because, at the time, all I wanted was to step away, catch my breath, and regain my balance. Moving here is a big transition, and it took that break for me to understand that adjusting to a place like New York takes time.
Coming back this year, I have a completely different outlook. I’m much more in tune with what I want to make of my life here, both as a student and a creator. I’m learning that there’s no ‘right’ pace for adapting – everyone’s journey is unique, and it’s okay to take things step by step. This city can be intense, but it’s also a place filled with so much inspiration, and I’m figuring out how to draw from that without losing myself in it.
Now, I’m focusing on building routines and habits that keep me grounded. Whether it’s finding cozy study spots, working on my own creative projects, or simply spending time with Toby, I’m finding my way to make New York feel like home. This journey isn’t just about classes or projects; it’s about discovering who I am and how I want to grow in a city that never slows down. Embracing my own pace here has made all the difference, and I’m excited to keep exploring what’s next.
