he's become the new main attraction 😂
When setting up a paludarium, it's always exciting to see unexpected flora making an appearance, like this small brown mushroom that sprouted in the moss. From my experience, certain mushrooms can thrive in the humid, damp environment that a paludarium provides. The mushroom I found first was quite small and brown, but within a day it turned a vibrant orange and tripled in size, which was fascinating to watch. These rapid changes are quite common with some mushroom species due to their sensitivity to moisture and temperature shifts. If you ever notice similar mushrooms in your terrarium or paludarium, it’s usually a sign that your setup has a healthy microenvironment, but you should also monitor to ensure they don’t overtake other plants or disrupt your ecosystem balance. In my case, the mushroom’s growth sparked curiosity about how large it might get. While sizes vary greatly based on species, many small mushrooms that appear in mossy substrates remain relatively compact — often no larger than a few centimeters — but some can surprise you with rapid expansions. Overall, unexpected mushrooms add a charming, natural touch to paludariums and terrariums alike. They remind me that these miniature ecosystems are alive and ever-changing. If you want to keep them, it’s important to maintain proper humidity and avoid harsh chemicals that might harm fungal growth. Watching these transformations has definitely added a new layer of enjoyment to my terrarium hobby.
