... Read moreIt's been a challenging but incredibly rewarding week on my eating disorder recovery journey, and I’m so excited to share another 'What I Eat In A Day' with you all! This WIEIAD is all about pushing boundaries and embracing foods that used to make me anxious. Trust me, every bite feels like a small victory. My day started bright and early with a nourishing breakfast sandwich. I layered egg, turkey bacon, and fresh spinach on a slice of Dave's Killer Bread rockin' grains muffin. For a long time, bread was a major fear food for me, but choosing a high-fiber, nutrient-dense option like this made it feel less daunting and more like a fuel for my body. It felt amazing to start the day feeling satisfied and energized, ready for my morning walk. Hydration is always key for me, so plenty of water was a constant companion throughout the day. Mid-morning, I treated myself to a protein latte. It’s a delicious way to get in extra protein and feel a bit pampered. I've also been loving green tea with ginger for digestion – it's a soothing ritual that helps me feel grounded and takes care of my gut. These small, mindful additions make a big difference in how I feel physically and mentally. Lunch was a significant triumph: half a Chick-fil-A cool wrap. Fast food can be incredibly tricky when you're in recovery, so choosing to enjoy a portion of this, without the avocado lime ranch (a personal preference, not a fear food thing!), felt like a huge step towards food freedom. I paired it with sweet potato chips, which added a satisfying crunch and some healthy fats. I even saved the other half for dinner with a fruit cup – a practical way to manage portions and reduce waste, which also aligns with my recovery goals. It showed me that I can enjoy foods from outside my kitchen and still feel in control. Challenging fear foods isn't easy, and somedays it feels downright impossible. But by taking small, consistent steps, choosing nourishing options, and allowing myself grace, I’m slowly but surely making progress. For anyone else on this journey, remember to be kind to yourself. Start small, perhaps by introducing just one new food or texture. Building a strong support system, journaling your feelings around food, and celebrating every single win, no matter how small, can truly transform your experience.
