I wish someone had just sat me down and explained this clearly so let me do that for you.

Cortisol is not just your stress hormone. It is the hormone that controls your energy, your metabolism, your mood, your sleep, your inflammation levels, and your immune function. When it is chronically elevated, everything downstream gets disrupted.

The thing nobody told me is that cortisol does not just spike when something bad happens. It spikes from poor sleep, from skipping meals, from scrolling your phone first thing in the morning, from feeling isolated, from pushing through exhaustion instead of resting.

Most of us are spiking our cortisol dozens of times a day without realizing it.

And the longer it stays elevated the harder it becomes to lose weight, the harder it becomes to sleep, the more anxious you feel, and the more depleted your body gets trying to keep up.

I spent years not knowing this. Years assuming I just needed more willpower or a better routine or to try harder at something.

What I actually needed was to support my body at the root level.

Comment CORTISOL and I'll send you the details 🌸

... Read moreWhen I first learned about cortisol, I didn't realize how often my daily habits were causing it to spike. It’s not just about stress from big events; simple things like missing breakfast or checking my phone immediately after waking were triggering continuous cortisol releases. This constant elevation left me feeling anxious, exhausted, and stuck with stubborn weight gain. What really helped was focusing on small lifestyle changes to support my body’s natural rhythm rather than relying on sheer willpower. For instance, I started prioritizing a consistent sleep schedule, making sure I ate balanced meals on time, and limiting screen time right after waking up. I also noticed that social connections played a big role—feeling isolated would ramp up my stress without me realizing. By addressing these factors, I was able to reduce my cortisol spikes and saw improvements not only in my energy and mood but also in how my body responded to exercise and diet. It’s important to understand that elevated cortisol affects inflammation and immune function, so managing it holistically can lead to better overall health. If you feel anxious, exhausted, or stuck with your weight despite trying hard, it might be worth looking at what triggers your cortisol spikes throughout the day. Taking time to rest and listen to your body rather than pushing through exhaustion can be a game changer. Supporting your body at the root level, instead of just focusing on willpower, really makes a difference in the long run.
