I am not going to tell you to overhaul your life this weekend. I know what your weekend actually looks like and I am not going to set you up to feel like you failed before June even starts.
What I am going to share are three things you can actually do that tell your nervous system it is safe to slow down. Things that take minutes not hours. Things that work because they address the root not just the surface.
Number one. Get outside in the morning before you look at your phone. Even five minutes of natural light before any screen tells your cortisol to follow its natural rhythm instead of spiking from stimulation first thing.
Number two. Add something to support your gut-brain connection. Your gut is where your mood, your energy, and your stress response all start. When it is depleted everything else suffers no matter what else you do right.
Number three. Eat something within an hour of waking. Skipping breakfast or waiting too long crashes your blood sugar and triggers a cortisol spike that sets a dysregulated tone for the whole day.
That is it. Three things. This weekend. Not a overhaul. Just a reset that your body will actually feel.
Comment JUICE and I'll share exactly what I add to my routine for the gut piece 🌸
From my experience, resetting your gut and energy doesn’t have to be complicated or time-consuming. One habit that helped me significantly was prioritizing natural light exposure first thing in the morning. Even just five minutes outside without my phone made a noticeable difference in my mood and how my body handled stress throughout the day. Supporting the gut-brain axis is indeed crucial, and I found that incorporating probiotic-rich foods or a high-quality supplement helped stabilize my energy and mood swings. Fermented foods like yogurt, kimchi, or kombucha are simple additions that promote gut health by fostering beneficial bacteria. Also, eating something within an hour of waking keeps blood sugar levels steady and prevents that mid-morning cortisol spike which can lead to feeling anxious or jittery. I usually opt for a balanced mix of protein, healthy fats, and complex carbs—this combo sustains my energy and keeps me focused. It’s important to remember that these small changes are about progress, not perfection. They help your nervous system recognize safety and calm, which ultimately supports the root causes of stress instead of just masking symptoms. Starting with these easy switches over a weekend was refreshing and motivated me to keep building healthy habits without feeling overwhelmed.
