... Read moreAs someone who frequents the gym regularly, I can share from personal experience why wiping down gym equipment before and after use is absolutely essential. The surfaces of machines and weights collect not only sweat but also bacteria and germs that can easily transfer to your skin, causing breakouts, infections, or irritations. One thing I learned the hard way is that neglecting to clean the handles or seats before using them often led to itchy rashes and sometimes even fungal infections. It’s a natural reaction when your skin comes into contact with grime accumulated from many users. I now always keep disinfectant wipes in my gym bag and make it a habit to thoroughly wipe down any equipment I plan to use. The OCR content reinforcing this—"this is why you wash your hands after lifting"—really hits home. After lifting weights or using equipment, my hands and skin are exposed to contaminants, so washing my hands right after, combined with using disinfectants on equipment, has helped me avoid many skin problems. If you’re concerned about odor or chemical residue from disinfectants, it’s good to choose gym-friendly, skin-safe products. Also, bringing a clean towel to place over equipment surfaces before use can add an extra layer of protection. Remember, maintaining equipment hygiene isn’t just about cleanliness; it’s a crucial step to support your dermatological health and overall fitness journey. Staying consistent with these practices will reduce risks of skin irritation and infections while keeping your workouts safer and more enjoyable.

Chlamydia From Gym Equipment I have heard this excuse plenty of times, but the truth is that it's not possible. You cannot catch chlamydia from going commando at the gym. You also can't catch it from public toilets. This is a VERY common excuse for people who have cheated on their significant

Gym Hygiene Every Woman Should Know
Let’s get one thing clear: if you’re taking the time to care for your body through fitness, you also need to care for it through hygiene. The gym can be a breeding ground for bacteria, fungi, and viruses — all of which can wreak havoc on your skin, lungs, gut, and reproductive health if you’re not
