Ask a baldie anything: Ep. 1 🧑🏼‍🦲

WHY did I decide to shave my head bald? Simply put, I wanted to.

I felt like looking at my hair after a shower while it was wet confirmed I had a nice head shape, editing photos of me bald + using filters bald allowed me to get used to it before it happened, and the subreddit r/bald had continuous before & afters that inspired me.

I prefer being bald, but it is high maintenance since my hair grows fast and is thick/dense/coarse — I shave my head every day unless I’m staying home!!

If you have a question, no matter how intrusive is it, don’t hesitate to ask!

... Read moreShaving your head bald can be a liberating and transformative experience, but it's also important to understand the maintenance and care involved, especially when dealing with thick, dense, or coarse hair. From my personal experience, daily shaving is necessary to maintain the smooth look, as hair can grow back quickly. It's a routine that requires commitment but offers unique confidence and freedom from traditional hairstyling. In addition to shaving, caring for the scalp is critical. I rely on a combination of gentle skincare products to keep my scalp healthy, minimize irritation, and address any acne or dryness that can come with shaving. Products like gentle foaming cleansers, calming magnesium mists, and hydrating serums help soothe the skin. Balms like cicaplast or pro collagen lip balm are excellent for moisturizing and repairing the skin barrier, especially if you experience any sensitivity. For those considering shaving their heads, getting used to the change can be challenging mentally and visually. Tools such as photo editing apps or even exploring communities like the r/bald subreddit provide inspiration and support. Seeing before-and-after photos and engaging with others who have taken the plunge can help alleviate doubts or insecurities. Physically, it's key to protect your scalp from the sun, as bald heads are more exposed. Using mineral-based sunscreens can shield your skin without clogging pores. Investing in quality shaving tools can also make the process smoother, reducing razor bumps or irritation. Overall, shaving your head bald is more than just a style choice—it's a lifestyle change that involves self-acceptance and dedicated scalp care. If you’re considering it, expect some grooming rituals, but also plenty of empowerment. Don’t hesitate to try it out if you feel inspired; you might find it refreshingly low-maintenance and confidence-boosting in the long run.

Welcome baldie
It’s OK to let go. Not every scalp needs fixing. Some just need honoring. Alopecia taught me something nobody warned me about. Fighting your hair every day is exhausting. Grieving it quietly is worse. Shaving my head and tattooing my scalp wasn’t giving up. It was choosing peace. It was choosi

A person with long, curly brown hair stands with their back to the camera, overlooking a city skyline at night. The image is titled 'HOW I GREW OUT MY CURLY HAIR NATURALY', detailing a hair growth journey.
I was bald. Now I’m not, I’ll tell you how
I’ve been loosing my hair for years. And now after giving up on being bald and sad forever I decided to take action. This growth and length happened over months. But if you can see the color shift from the dark brown to the light brown you will see that months , for that amount of growth, is insane
