Burn Extra Calories Outside The Gym City Biking

🇫🇷🚴‍♀️ Sunday marked the first day of my month-long trip to Paris to visit family and spend some quality time recharging before the busy summer season.

Since it was a day off, my cousins took full advantage and planned a day packed with tourist activities—which, of course, included lots of food and delicious Parisian treats.🥐🧀🫕

Instead of taking the metro, I decided to rent a “Vélib’,” the local city bike. The weather was gorgeous, and I figured the extra movement would help me stay energized and keep up with the fun schedule.

We ended up biking 5.35 miles and burned an extra 230 calories—which were immediately spent on one of the most delicious ice creams of all time.

I personally love city biking, especially in a bike-friendly city like Paris where there are plenty of dedicated lanes and clear signage. It also helps that I went to a biking school (yes, that’s a thing!) where we had to bike to class, so I’m pretty confident in my riding skills.

But here’s the thing—you don’t need to be in Paris to enjoy city biking. You can totally start in your local downtown area or park. Go for a sunset ride, or wake up early and make it a morning thing.

Here are my favorite reasons to choose city biking when I can:
