We sharing mama now?

Backstory: my mom and my husband have come SO far in their relationship. She was against the idea of him being in my life and i understand because the perception is that incarcerated men ain’t sh**. Over time, she grew to know him, see us together and is aware that his intentions towards me are good. Then they started to write and talk, and now he’s claiming her as his own momma. Long story short, I’m gonna have to learn to share.

... Read moreIn today's society, the relationships between family members can sometimes face unexpected challenges, particularly when it involves significant others who are incarcerated. Such relationships may be met with skepticism or misunderstanding. However, as shown in the evolving bond between my husband and mother, love and compassion can bridge such gaps. It's important to keep in mind that perceptions about incarcerated individuals often stem from societal biases. Over time, as my mom got to know my husband better, she realized that her initial hesitations were unfounded. This situation emphasizes the critical nature of open communication, understanding, and acceptance in familial relationships. When my husband began writing to my mom, it marked a pivotal point in their relationship; it demonstrated that building connections can transcend preconceived notions. Our shared experiences and storytelling are fundamental in nurturing relationships, as they foster the foundation and insight necessary for a thriving bond. Ultimately, this experience has taught me about resilience and the importance of embracing love in all its forms. Sharing my mom with my husband may have challenges, but it also brings about unexpected joys and understanding. In any relationship, especially those involving family and partners, fostering positive interactions and encouraging each other to grow leads to a richer, more fulfilling life.
