The combination of sharp cheddar and Colby Jack cheese ensures a robust flavor that melts into every bite. One tip I've found useful is to keep the butter in the dough cold before mixing, which helps yield a tender crumb similar to biscuits. When preparing the topping, I like to melt the butter and mix in garlic powder and fresh parsley to brush over the bread right after baking. This infuses the bread with a wonderful aroma and taste reminiscent of the famed Red Lobster cheddar bay biscuits. Baking at 350°F for 35 to 45 minutes is perfect, but always keep an eye on the bread—in some ovens, it may need a few minutes less or more. The cooling period of 30 minutes is also crucial; it allows the bread to set and makes it easier to slice. I've served this bread as a side for various meals, from hearty stews to fresh salads, and it never fails to impress guests. For an extra touch, try adding a sprinkle of shredded cheese on top before baking to create a golden crust. This recipe is quite flexible—feel free to experiment with herbs like rosemary or thyme in the topping, or swap Colby Jack for mozzarella for a different cheesy twist. Homemade Cheddar Bay Bread is not only a crowd-pleaser but also a fantastic way to customize savory bread to your taste preferences, making it a delightful addition to your kitchen repertoire.

Do you have to let it rise or just put it in
