Here’s everything I tried 👇
🥘 Sukiyaki ($27.50)
A bubbling Japanese hot pot loaded with vegetables, tofu, tender beef, shrimp, and a deeply savoury soy-based broth. The kind of dish that warms you instantly.
🍜 Tonkotsu Black ($21)
This bowl was packed with rich creamy broth, fragrant black garlic oil, springy handmade noodles, thick charred pork belly, and the PERFECT jammy ramen egg. Every bite tasted incredibly comforting and full of flavour.
🥢 Mixed Cold Noodles / Mazemen ($18)
My unexpected favourite of the night. The noodles were chewy, flavourful, refreshing, and coated in the most addictive savoury sauce. I would come back just for this alone.
🍛 Japanese Curry Chicken Don ($21)
Crispy katsu chicken over rich Japanese curry that was thick, comforting, and packed with umami flavour.
🐙 Takowasabi
A bold and unique Japanese snack with fresh wasabi heat that seafood lovers would appreciate.
🦪 Fried Clams / Asari Fry ($13)
My TOP favourite. Perfectly crispy, juicy, savoury, and ridiculously addicting. Don’t knock it till you try it.
🐙 Takoyaki ($9)
Golden crispy octopus balls topped with takoyaki sauce, mayo, and dancing bonito flakes — classic Japanese street food done right.

Visiting Taki Ramen felt like a genuine escape to a small, intimate shokudo in Japan. One thing that stood out immediately was the care put into simmering their broths for hours, resulting in deeply layered, comforting flavors that truly felt homemade. The handmade noodles, with their perfect chewy texture, really elevated the ramen experience beyond typical fast-food options. The Sukiyaki hot pot was a highlight for me — packed with a variety of fresh vegetables, tender beef, shrimp and tofu in a savory soy-based broth that was warm and satisfying, perfect for cooler days. What I didn’t expect to enjoy as much as I did was the Mixed Cold Noodles (Mazemen). The chewy noodles coated in a flavorful, addictive sauce were refreshing and a perfect contrast to the hot dishes. Another standout was the Japanese Curry Chicken Don, where crispy katsu chicken met thick, umami-rich Japanese curry. It was comfort food at its finest. And for seafood lovers, the Takowasabi and especially the Fried Clams were not to be missed. The clams were so crispy and juicy that they kept me coming back for more, and I can definitely say they deserve a special mention as the best snack option. If you’re curious about classic Japanese street food, the Takoyaki hits all the right notes with crispy, golden octopus balls topped with mayo, takoyaki sauce, and bonito flakes dancing in the heat. Overall, the atmosphere felt welcoming and cozy, just like a hidden gem tucked away from the bustle of Ottawa. They also have a great weekday lunch deal, which makes tasting a variety of dishes more affordable. If you appreciate authentic Japanese comfort food and handmade noodles, this is definitely a spot to add to your list!
