My trolley is so fast now
When I first started cosmetology school, I focused mainly on learning hair styling, makeup, and skincare. However, one lesson that wasn’t explicitly taught but quickly became apparent is the importance of basic mechanical skills. For example, maintaining and organizing your trolley can drastically affect how efficiently you work behind the chair. My trolley used to be slow, cluttered, and frustrating to maneuver, which wasted valuable time during client appointments. But once I learned how to 'become a mechanic' of sorts—tightening wheels, optimizing storage, and streamlining the layout—it transformed my entire workday. Now, my trolley moves smoothly and swiftly, enabling me to access tools quickly and reduce down time between tasks. This experience taught me that cosmetology isn’t just about the artistic and technical skill of beauty treatments but also about managing your equipment effectively. Small mechanical fixes can improve mobility and reduce fatigue, which ultimately leads to happier clients and a more enjoyable work environment. If you’re a fellow cosmetology student or professional, I highly recommend taking time to check your trolley’s condition. Learn some simple mechanical upkeep, such as cleaning and lubricating wheels, securing drawers, and organizing products in a functional way. These adjustments may seem minor but can make a significant difference in your daily efficiency and overall salon experience.
