Just so you know, they didn’t get their dancing genes from me 🤣🤣🤣

Hey everyone! Millicent Xandercs here, your favorite digital creator, and I'm so thrilled you're here to dive deeper into our latest family adventure. You might have seen our recent video where I mentioned my American kids embracing their Nigerian roots through music – and trust me, it's been an incredible journey for all of us, even if my own dance moves are more 'enthusiastic' than 'coordinated'! For years, I've wanted to find meaningful ways of taking my American kids back to their Nigerian roots through music. It wasn't just about playing some songs; it was about creating an immersive experience that truly resonated with them. We started with traditional Nigerian folk songs and lullabies I grew up with, then moved onto contemporary Afrobeats that really get them moving. The energy in our home has been electric! Seeing their faces light up as they learn new rhythms and movements, it’s truly priceless. It’s not just about entertainment; it’s a living, breathing connection to their heritage. As a digital creator, capturing these moments and sharing them has become a passion, showing the authentic beauty of cultural discovery. Being a mom and a digital creator allows me to share these precious moments with you all, and seeing my daughters connect so deeply with their culture fills my heart. It's been a beautiful unfolding, watching them discover parts of themselves through the melodies and beats of Nigeria. We've been exploring different instruments, watching documentaries about Nigerian music history, and even trying out some traditional dance steps (with varying degrees of success, mostly on my part!). The laughter and learning that fill our home during these sessions are memories I'll cherish forever. If you're a parent looking to introduce your children to their own cultural heritage, especially through the arts, my biggest advice is to start small and make it fun! Don't feel pressured to make it a formal lesson. For us, it began with simply playing music during dinner or while we were cleaning. Then, it evolved into spontaneous dance parties and learning about the stories behind the songs. Seek out local cultural events, or even just YouTube videos that showcase traditional music and dances. Representation matters, and seeing themselves reflected in the music and stories has given my girls such a strong sense of identity and pride. This journey has been so rewarding, and it’s something we plan to continue exploring. As your digital creator, I'm always thinking about how to bring you more authentic, heartwarming content from our lives, bridging cultures and celebrating diversity. Keep an eye out for more updates on 'The Xandercs Sisters' and their musical adventures, as we continue to celebrate our unique blend of American and Nigerian cultures. What cultural traditions are you celebrating with your family? I'd love to hear your stories and tips in the comments below!
