Self Care/My Story of Survival๐
Today is a very special day, so I had to treat myself.
Vulnerability
๐ค My Story: At 27 years old, a university transfer student struggling with imposter syndrome, I survived battling one of my biggest demons five years ago. I did the right thing by getting the help I needed when I thought I was behind in life and alone. When I thought I was no longer needed in this world.๐
๐ค How I Felt: Scared, confused, hurt and in need of guidance. A kind stranger saw me at my lowest and offered the words I needed to hear. What triggered my poor mental state was an unpleasant encounter before the stranger came to talk to me. After listening to my story about a rough encounter with a bus driver who was upset because my metro pass wasnโt workingโand I didnโt have a dollarโhe gave me a hug and handed me $5. He didn't even care that his shirt was drenched in my tears. I ended up getting the help I needed that same day.
๐ค My Takeaways: I still battle my demons. It's not easy but I'm still learning to appreciate who I am and that I'm going at my own pace. I have a supportive and loving mother and sister who continue to love and support me. People care. Don't let otherโs bad mood make you feel like you did something wrong. Don't let the world tell you that you're behind in life. You're exactly where you need to be.
