Are You Ready?
The greatest measure of who we are and what we love is how we spend our time.
Where do you spend most of your time? Most of us spend the majority of it with family, at work, or on hobbies. All of those are important things that we should invest in. But Jesus says there’s another thing that we need to spend time doing.
There are a lot of different ideas people have for when Jesus will return, but ultimately, Jesus says that nobody will know the time and date. He will come at a time when we least expect Him.
So until He does come, He says that we should be ready. We tend to spend most of our time working on finding the right career, or pursuing certain relationships, or building wealth and possessions. And yet, none of those things will prepare us for when Jesus returns.
So what can we do to prepare?
The first thing is to put your faith in Jesus, by believing that He gave His life so that you could have eternal life. Next, commit to spending time with Him, confessing your mistakes and being transformed by His presence. Finally, continue to tell others about the great love that Jesus has for them. Continue to grow in your faith every day, and be faithful with the gifts that God has given you.
We shouldn’t spend our time worrying about when Jesus will return, but rather what we should be doing until He returns.

Reflecting on the message that Jesus will return at an unexpected hour, as highlighted in Luke 12:40, has profoundly reshaped how I view the use of my time and focus. Life is often consumed by the pursuit of career success, relationships, and material wealth, but these do not equip us for the spiritual readiness that Jesus emphasizes. In my personal experience, the journey to being truly ready has involved a shift from worrying about the unknown timing of Jesus' return to actively cultivating a living relationship with Him. This means regularly setting aside time for prayer, meditation on Scripture, and honest self-reflection. Through these moments, I find encouragement and transformation that go beyond just routine religious practice. Another key aspect is sharing this readiness and hope with others. It's easy to get caught up in personal spiritual growth, but the call to spread the message of Jesus' love and salvation is equally important. I have found that genuine conversations about faith often arise naturally when we live authentically and serve others with compassion. Additionally, being ready involves stewardship of the gifts and talents God has entrusted to each of us. Whether it’s volunteering in community outreach, supporting fellow believers, or simply acting with kindness in everyday interactions, these actions embody readiness. Ultimately, I’ve learned that readiness is less about predicting the future and more about living faithfully each day. It’s about embracing the certainty of Jesus’ love and the promise of eternal life, even when the exact timing remains a mystery. This perspective has brought peace and motivation to live purposefully amidst life's uncertainties.
