is it normal to practice kissing?

Hello there, as promised, here’s another book review for the week! Practice Makes Perfect is the kind of romance book you read when you want something comforting, warm, and quietly emotional. 🤍

This book follows Annie, someone who often feels overlooked and unsure of herself. She has always been the goody-two-shoes, happy-go-lucky girl known for being sweet and shy. Will, on the other hand, is a confident, charming, and supposedly “dangerous” bodyguard who somehow sees the real her beneath all that.

What I really liked about this book was how easy their chemistry felt. It wasn’t dramatic or overwhelming — it was warm, safe, and comforting. They slowly became each other’s safe space, and I think that’s what made their relationship feel so genuine.

And the yearning in this book? SO good.

The protective gestures, the slow burn tension, the quiet moments where they clearly cared about each other before they were even ready to admit it… yeah. Those were definitely my favourite parts.

Beyond the romance, I think this book quietly says a lot about confidence and self-worth too. Sometimes people don’t need to be “fixed” — they just need someone who makes them feel safe enough to become more themselves.

And honestly? Will is VERY much the “she fell first, he fell harder” type of man.

If you love:

♡ soft romance

♡ comforting small-town energy

♡ self-discovery themes

♡ playful chemistry

♡ yearning and slow burn tension

…you’ll probably really enjoy this one too 📚

As always, happy reading everyone! 🤍

P.s. if you don’t already know, this is part of the “When in Rome” series by Sarah Adams! Check out my review on the first book here: https://s.lemon8-app.com/s/GghURvdvmj

5/28 Edited to

... Read moreOne thing that really stood out to me in this book was the way it portrayed the subtle dance of getting to truly know someone beyond first impressions. Annie’s journey from feeling invisible to being seen and valued felt so real and relatable. It reminded me of how often we hold back parts of ourselves until we feel safe enough to share them. The protective gestures Will shows aren’t just romantic clichés; they serve as a reminder that real love often involves creating a space where the other person can grow and be themselves. It made me reflect on relationships in my own life — how crucial it is to have someone who gently encourages you rather than trying to change you. If you’re someone who enjoys soft romance with meaningful character development, this book is definitely worth your time. It also gently explores themes like self-discovery and self-acceptance in a way that feels natural and uplifting. Plus, if you like slow burn relationships that aren’t rushed but filled with small, teasing moments of yearning, this story hits the spot perfectly. For readers curious about the author, Sarah Adams is known for crafting stories that balance emotional depth with accessible storytelling. This book, part of the 'When in Rome' series, continues that tradition beautifully. I found myself rooting for Annie and Will by the last page, hopeful that their story would inspire others to embrace their own journeys toward confidence and love. Overall, if your idea of a perfect book includes heartfelt emotion, soft romance, and characters who truly evolve, 'Practice Makes Perfect' is a soothing yet engaging read you shouldn’t miss.
