This is what I get for doing the tiktok comparison #babiesoftiktok #momguilt
As a mom who frequently scrolls through Babies of TikTok, I've found that it’s all too easy to fall into the trap of comparison. Seeing countless adorable babies hitting milestones or achieving cute little tricks can sometimes trigger feelings of mom guilt when your own child isn't quite at the same stage or doing the same things. What I’ve learned is that these videos often showcase highlight reels rather than the full parenting experience. While it’s fun and inspiring to watch, it’s important to remember that every child develops at their own pace. Social media should be a source of community and support, not stress or self-judgment. To manage these feelings, I try to set clear boundaries for my social media use, reminding myself that my child's journey is unique and special. Engaging with mom groups off social media or talking openly about mom guilt with friends helps me feel connected and less isolated. Ultimately, the goal is to use platforms like Babies of TikTok to celebrate all aspects of parenthood — the joys, the struggles, and everything in between — without letting comparison rob you of your confidence and peace of mind.
