Dim Sum in Norcross GA
📍 Happy Valley Dim Sum & Cantonese Cuisine in Norcross, GA
Happy Valley has been around for about 30 years. This was actually my first time visiting their new location. My family has always been a fan of Happy Valley.
⭐ Har Gow 9.5/10
Translucent skin with a full shrimp inside. The texture and flavor are very close to what I’ve had in Guangdong.
⭐ Hong Kong Style Egg Tart 9/10
Best when they come out fresh. Flaky buttery crust with smooth egg custard and a golden top.
⭐ Feng Zao (Chicken Feet) 8.5/10
Good color and the skin has the classic wrinkled texture from braising. The flavor is savory with a slight sweetness, though a little lighter than expected.
⭐ Beef Tripe 8.5/10
Tender with a slight chew and absorbs the sauce well. The radish underneath was really good.
⭐ Beef Rice Roll 7.5/10
The flavor is good, but the presentation is not very Cantonese style. The rice roll is slightly thick but has a nice rice fragrance. The soy sauce they use is not very authentic. I used to eat rice rolls almost every day for breakfast when I was in school in Guangzhou, so I am very picky about rice rolls.
⭐ Pork Siumai 8.5/10
Pretty classic dim sum.
⭐ Clams 7.8/10
The clams themselves are fresh and well cleaned. Do not be afraid to ask them to reheat if it comes out cold. However, the sauce was a bit too heavy for me.

Visiting Happy Valley in Norcross was truly a delightful experience for me, especially as a fan of authentic Cantonese dim sum. The restaurant's reputation for maintaining traditional flavors shines through in each dish they serve. Among my favorites was the Har Gow, featuring that delicate translucent skin that was just right—thin enough to showcase the juicy shrimp inside without overpowering it. The texture reminded me of dim sum I enjoyed in Guangdong, which is a high compliment. One tip I’ve learned is to get the Hong Kong Style Egg Tart right when it comes out of the oven. The flaky and buttery crust combined with the silky smooth custard filling offers a perfect blend of texture and sweetness that’s hard to beat. It’s one of those treats that tastes best warm, making it a must-try. Another standout was the Feng Zao (Chicken Feet), praised for its classic braised texture and savory flavor with just a slight sweetness. Although the flavor could have been a bit bolder, the wrinkled skin texture was spot-on and definitely evokes the dim sum style typical of Cantonese cuisine. The beef tripe also impressed me with its tender chewiness and excellent sauce absorption, balanced perfectly with the fresh radish served underneath. The rice rolls, while slightly thicker than what I expected and less traditionally styled, still offered a satisfying rice fragrance and pleasant taste, although the soy sauce didn’t hit the mark of the authentic flavor I remember from Guangzhou. The pork siu mai and sautéed clams were solid options too; the clams were fresh and clean but the sauce was a bit too heavy for my palate. One useful suggestion would be to not hesitate asking the staff to reheat dim sum items if served cold, ensuring the best texture and taste. Overall, Happy Valley offers a warm and inviting atmosphere with dishes made in-house, showcasing the depth and variety of Cantonese dim sum. For those exploring Norcross or the greater Atlanta area, it’s definitely a spot worth visiting for a genuine dim sum experience that reminds you of the flavors of China, right in Georgia.
