Warning Signs of a Chemical Burn
A few years ago I had a really bad experience with a Cerave cleanser. It was promoted to be for oily skin. I used it for a few weeks and it started to burn my skin. I kept using it because it was being effective aside from the burning. My acne was actually clearing.
One day I noticed a red splotch on my skin that would not go away. I didn't think much about the burning sensation at all because at that point it was normal ro me. But the weird part was that after a few minutes it didn't go away like it usually did.
I ended up going to the hospital only to find out I had a chemical burn. I just want to know if there are any initial signs other than the burning that could have helped prevent this. I know that a burning sensation doesn't always indicate that its going to become a chemical burn.

Hi derm PA Here 🥰🥰🥰 I’m so sorry you went through that 🤍 Sometimes people think irritation means a product is “working,” but your skin barrier is so important too. Everyone’s skin tolerates ingredients differently, especially with stronger actives. Hope your skin is doing much better now.
