No one warned me healing would feel this heavy.🍋
Last night at a women’s seminar, one of the speakers said something that stopped me.
She said, “Whenever I try to say something kind to myself, my chest tightens.”
And suddenly, I felt it too.
It’s like my body doesn’t believe the words are meant for me.
I grew up around women who stayed strong, not soft.
They didn’t say, “You’re doing great.”
They said, “Keep going.”
So I did, until I forgot how to rest, how to receive, how to breathe without earning it first.
Now, when I whisper gentle things like “I’m okay,” “I’m safe,” and “I’ve done enough,”
I feel that knot rise in my chest.
It’s the ache of generations who never heard softness in their own voices.
I’m learning not to fight it anymore.
The tightness just means I’m breaking a pattern,
teaching my body what love is supposed to feel like.

I feel this deep in my soul. The pressure to always be strong, especially for women, is so real. Thank you for articulating this so beautifully.
