The House I Bought vs The Home I Created 🤍

When we bought this house, the kitchen felt dated and disconnected from the way I wanted our home to feel. I didn’t have a huge renovation budget — just a vision for something warmer, more intentional, and more “us.”

As a working mom, I wanted a space that felt cozy but practical. Somewhere I could cook dinner after work, host family, and still feel proud of the details.

Small changes made the biggest difference:

• Brass hardware

• Beadboard backing

• Open shelving for warmth

• A skirted sink for charm

• Soft lighting

• Vintage-inspired touches

It’s not perfect. It’s not brand new.

But it feels like home.

And that matters more.

... Read moreWhen I decided to update my kitchen, I learned that it’s often the small, thoughtful details that truly transform a space and make it feel like home. For example, installing brass hardware instantly added a timeless appeal while being an affordable upgrade. Beadboard backing brought texture and warmth without the need for major construction. I also found that open shelving not only showcased cherished dishes but helped keep everyday items accessible, which is a lifesaver on busy evenings. Choosing a skirted sink was a charming vintage-inspired touch that tied the whole look together while soft, layered lighting created a cozy atmosphere ideal for family dinners and casual entertaining. Beyond aesthetics, practicality was key—I needed a kitchen that supported my lifestyle as a working mom, so I prioritized organizational solutions and durable finishes. Creating a home is less about having a perfect or brand-new space and more about reflecting your personality and how your family lives. Adding thoughtful, intentional elements made my kitchen the heart of our home, where memories are made and daily life feels special. If you’re on a similar journey, focus on what resonates with you and embrace those little changes that make your house uniquely yours.
