Think you might have wavy or curly hair?

2024/5/1 Edited to

... Read moreI totally get it if you've spent years battling what you thought was just frizzy, unmanageable hair. For the longest time, I was convinced my hair was just "bad" – always poofy and never quite sitting right unless I straightened it daily. But, like many "unaware wavies," I eventually realized I had natural waves just waiting to be embraced! So, how can you tell if you're one of us? If your hair often looks frizzy after brushing, loses its shape quickly, or has a slight bend and inconsistency when wet, you likely have some hidden waves or curls. A great way to check is to wash your hair, apply a light leave-in conditioner, and let it air dry completely without touching it. Observe how it dries – do you see any S-shapes or spirals forming? That's your natural curl pattern peeking through! Understanding your pattern (like 2a, 2b, or 2c for waves) is the first step to knowing how to treat it. My hair transformation didn't happen overnight, but once I learned what my actual hair curl pattern is and how to work with it instead of against it, everything changed. I used to think I needed to fight the frizz, but I actually needed to encourage the wave! For me, the game-changers were a few key products and techniques. You'll definitely want to get your hands on a good gel and mousse. The gel helps to lock in your curl pattern and fight frizz, while the mousse provides volume and hold without weighing your hair down. Don't be afraid to use a generous amount – your waves thrive on hold! After washing and conditioning, I apply my leave-in, then rake through a good amount of mousse, followed by gel. This is where the magic happens: scrunching. Gently scrunch your hair upwards towards your scalp to encourage those waves to spring up. You can do this with your hands or even a cotton t-shirt to absorb excess water without creating frizz. This scrunching technique is vital for defining your waves and making them pop! Finally, for perfect definition and volume, a diffuser attachment for your hairdryer is a must. Instead of blasting your waves with direct heat, which can cause frizz, a diffuser disperses the air gently. I like to flip my head upside down and gently cup sections of my hair into the diffuser bowl, drying on a low-medium heat and speed setting. This allows the waves to form and dry in their natural pattern, giving you soft, bouncy, and beautifully defined results. Beyond the wash day routine, remember that wavy hair loves moisture. Regular deep conditioning and avoiding brushing your hair when it's dry can make a huge difference. Protecting your waves overnight with a silk pillowcase or a loose pineapple bun can also help maintain definition for days. It's a journey of discovery, but seeing your natural waves come to life is incredibly rewarding!

Easy wavy hair routine for summer
I love this routine bc it’s so easy and my hair dries fast due to how light the stylers are. The bounce curl hairspray has a great stickiness to help hold clumps and reduce frizz while drying. Once dried and scrunched, my hair feels so soft and bouncy. _____ Washday details (in order): ➰ S

Why I stopped pixie diffusing my wavy/curly hair✨
Pixie diffusing works wonders for extra volume, however it frequently caused my hair to dry wonky the closer it got to my root. This is especially true for my bottom layers as they tend to dry in a looser pattern and don’t want to “curl” up into the diffuser (this is totally normally to have multip
