They represent the audience I’m writing for, and their honest feedback guides me in spotting weaknesses and areas to strengthen. Asking them open-ended questions enables me to listen without defensiveness. Finally, asking myself the hard questions — like "Would I read this book, or would I DNF (did not finish)?" — is critical. Honesty here can unearth deep insights about the story’s pace, character development, or hooks that need work. Facing these truths head-on helps me move from stuck to empowered.
