Yes, you read that right.
I got almost to the end of the skirt and I realized that it just wasn’t going to work. The increase was too steep and it didn’t wrap around the hips correctly.
So sad.
But I’ve restarted, from the beginning, and changed my increase stitch from the top of the skirt to the bottom of the skirt and now it has a more sensible curve to I that I think will be fine. The placement of the increase definitely has an effect on the shape of the piece.
I’ll post what I mean.

On the left side I have the old version, where I increased at the top. It adds a steep “curve” to the top of the piece which then plateaus to a flat part. Not flattering or useful. On the right, the increase runs along the shell stitches, blending in and making a nice curve at the bottom, which will be ruffled anyway.
