PS5 Tips | Part 8

2024/12/18 Edited to

... Read moreHey everyone! 👋 You know, when I first got my PS5, I thought I knew it all, but diving into the settings menu has been a total game-changer. Seriously, there are so many 'hidden' gems that can completely transform your gaming experience. I wanted to share some of my personal breakthroughs, especially since the console offers so much more than just playing games! First up, let's talk about Family and Parental Controls. For any parents out there, or even if you just share your console, these are absolutely essential. I found setting up individual user profiles with specific game/app settings and play time limits incredibly helpful. It’s not just about restricting access; it’s about creating a balanced environment. You can set age restrictions, control spending limits on the PlayStation Store, and even manage communication features, ensuring a safer space for younger players. It gives me peace of mind knowing I have these in place. Then there’s the whole world of Captures and Broadcasts! I used to just hit the Create button and hope for the best, but optimizing my settings made a huge difference. For starters, did you know you can customize your Screenshot Format? I switched to PNG for higher quality screenshots because I love sharing crisp, detailed images of my best in-game moments. And for video clips, adjusting the Video Clip Format and the default length that you want to save is a must. I usually set my video clip length to '30 Seconds' to catch those perfect clutch plays without too much irrelevant footage. The Auto-Upload feature for game captures is also a lifesaver – no more manual transfers, everything just goes straight to the cloud (if you have PS Plus, of course!). Plus, if you’re into streaming game captures, tweaking your broadcast settings can make your streams look super professional. I also found that setting up Shortcuts for Create Button actions makes recording and sharing so much faster during intense gameplay. Another feature I've been experimenting with is Voice Command (Preview). Honestly, I didn't think I'd use it much, but being able to quickly say things like "Hey PlayStation, start recording" or "Take a screenshot" without taking my hands off the controller is surprisingly convenient. It's a small tweak, but it really adds to the seamlessness of the experience. Just remember to check your privacy settings if you're concerned about always-on listening! Finally, don't overlook Saved Data and Game/App Settings and Button mapping. Managing my saved data – deciding what to keep locally and what to upload to the cloud – has helped me avoid running out of storage. And button mapping? That's pure customization! I've remapped a few buttons in specific games to make certain actions feel more natural, giving me a slight edge. It feels like the console is truly mine when I can adjust these things. Exploring these deeper settings has truly made my PS5 experience so much richer and more personalized. I encourage you all to dive into your settings and see what hidden gems you can discover to make your console work even better for you!
