👩🏽‍💻Interview Season Survival List (this one works)

Last year, when she was between jobs, she quietly started calling that stretch of life “interview season.”

Because that’s what it felt like…a whole season of proving, preparing, and pretending she wasn’t nervous or scared.

But somewhere in the middle of all that, she started realizing something:

Interviews aren’t auditions for worthiness.

They’re reminders of everything she’s already survived.

So instead of spiraling before every call, she built something for herself…her own Interview Season Survival Pack.

And somehow, this tiny ritual helped her feel good in her skin again… more grounded, more confident, more her when she showed up on Zoom.

Here’s what she kept inside her pack:

Dyson Airwrap:

Putting her hair in a beautiful style showed the world her confidence outwardly.

A quiet reminder that she was worth her own effort.

La Mer Renewal Cream:

She tested so many face creams, and this one won.

It locked in her skincare and gave her that soft, glass-skin glow before the camera came on.

Saint Laurent portfolio folder:

Inside, she kept printed copies of her résumé, handwritten thank-you notes (she’s a firm believer in mailing them), and a small affirmation card that read:

“I belong in every room I enter.”

Because she did…and so do you.

☕ A Nespresso Vertuo + glass mug:

For her, coffee wasn’t chaos.

It was ceremony.

A grounding moment…not the clumsy, breathless panic we see in movies where the main character is late and unraveling.

Noise-canceling Bose headphones:

She created a calm cocoon before every interview (a must for her ADHD mind), so she could hear her intuition louder than her doubts.

A Jo Malone candle in Peony & Blush Suede:

This scent was everyTHANG.

When she lit it and the room filled with warmth, it whispered:

“You’re not chasing the role, beautiful; you’re choosing the environment you’ll thrive in next.”

Did her interview stash combo work?

Yes. Absolutely.

Her energy shifted from anxious to anchored.

Every “no” simply meant: not this room, not this time.

🪞 Soft lesson of the day

Preparation is a form of self-trust.

And self-trust is magnetic.

These are the exact little things that helped her keep it together

(and look like she had it all together 😅).

She dropped everything inside her Benable list… 🔗link in bio. Under “My Interview Survival Pack” list.

... Read moreNavigating the interview process can often feel like an emotional rollercoaster, but creating a personalized survival pack can transform this experience into one of empowerment and self-trust. Many candidates understandably focus solely on resumes and rehearsing answers, but preparing your mindset and environment is just as critical for success. A key element is creating routines that ground you and reduce anxiety before each Zoom call. For example, styling your hair using tools like the Dyson Airwrap not only elevates your appearance but also serves as a confidence booster through self-care. This small act of effort is a powerful reminder that you are worthy of taking time for yourself, which naturally reflects in how you carry yourself during interviews. Skincare also plays a role in feeling camera-ready and comfortable in your skin. Products like La Mer Renewal Cream help achieve a subtle glow that translates well on video calls, contributing to that sought-after “glass-skin” effect. This kind of preparation, coupled with soft lighting and calming scents such as Jo Malone’s Peony & Blush Suede candle, helps cultivate an inviting and warm interview environment that supports your best self. Mental clarity and focus are often compromised during high-stress moments, especially for neurodiverse candidates with ADHD or similar conditions. Using noise-canceling Bose headphones can establish a serene, distraction-free zone, allowing you to tune in to your intuition rather than stress or doubts. Pairing this with a grounding ritual—like sipping coffee from a beloved Nespresso Vertuo mug—turns preparation time into a mindful ceremony rather than chaotic pre-interview rush. Another overlooked aspect of interview preparation is the physical organization of materials. Keeping a luxurious folder, such as a Saint Laurent portfolio, with neatly printed resumes, handwritten thank-you notes, and a personal affirmation card stating “I belong in every room I enter” reinforces your sense of worth and professionalism. This tangible reminder reinforces your mental state, reducing feelings of imposter syndrome. Ultimately, this survival pack is about more than just items—it’s a mindset shift from performance anxiety to authentic alignment. Interviews aren’t auditions for worthiness but celebrations of your resilience and growth. Each “no” is not a rejection but a step toward finding the right space for your talents to thrive. Preparation becomes a magnetic form of self-trust, softening the edges of nervousness and allowing your true self to shine. Individuals who embrace such rituals not only appear composed but genuinely feel more anchored, resulting in a more compelling interview presence and increased chances for career reinvention success.
