You Are Focusing On The Wrong Thing
Let’s Talk Series:
Staying grounded
This is one of the most common questions I get.
“How do I stay rooted when everything feels overwhelming?”
The truth is…
It’s not about controlling everything around you.
Because there will always be:
-noise
-opinions
-comparisons
-external situations you can’t control
What actually shifts things
is coming back to this:
What is within my control?
And what is not?
Your response.
Your energy.
Your boundaries.
That’s where your power is.
This is something I practise daily
and also what I guide women through
in the spaces I hold.
If this resonates,
save this as your reminder or share with a lovely friend.
This is the work I hold space for.
In today’s fast-paced and often overwhelming world, staying grounded can feel like an impossible task. I’ve personally found that the key to maintaining my calm and focus isn’t trying to control every external factor—because there will always be noise, opinions, and comparisons around us that we simply cannot change. Instead, what has made a profound difference in my life is shifting my attention to what I can actually control. Focusing on your own response to situations is a powerful practice. For example, when confronted with stressful news or conflicting opinions, I remind myself to pause and recognize the difference between what’s within my control and what’s not. This mental habit helps reduce frustration and anxiety because I stop wasting energy on trying to fix things beyond my reach. Another important aspect is managing your energy. I’ve experienced that protecting my emotional and mental energy by setting boundaries is essential in staying centered. This might mean stepping away from social media when comparisons creep in or politely disengaging from conversations that drain you. Over time, these boundaries safeguard your inner peace. Daily practices such as mindful breathing, journaling, or simply taking a moment to acknowledge your feelings can deepen your ability to stay connected with yourself. I also encourage embracing self-compassion—the understanding that it’s okay not to be in control of everything and that your worth isn’t dependent on external validation. This approach isn’t just theoretical—it’s a daily commitment. As someone who guides others in emotional wellness and nervous system support, I’ve witnessed how returning to this core principle transforms overwhelm into manageable, grounded living. Remember, staying rooted is not about eliminating the chaos, but about strengthening your inner compass. When you focus on your responses, energy, and boundaries, you reclaim your power and create space for clarity and calm in your life.
