Art And Why I Did It ✨

I still cringe over that second drawing; what was I thinking?! 😤

These drawings were all done during quarantine and I think you can definitely tell.

I still love Gravity Falls, though! It's such a good show I recommend it 💕

... Read moreRediscovering art during quarantine was such an unexpected joy for me, and maybe it was for you too! There's something truly special about picking up a pencil or brush when the world outside feels a bit overwhelming. For me, it started with diving into fan art, specifically my absolute favorite show, Gravity Falls. Sketching characters like Mabel and Dipper Pines was a fantastic way to reconnect with my creative side without the pressure of perfection. It’s like, who cares if it's not museum-worthy? It’s about the pure fun of it! I quickly learned that having a good sketchbook makes all the difference. I love my blue Canson Mix Media sketchbook because it holds up to so many different materials. You can try anything from simple pencil sketches to vibrant colored pencil drawings, which is perfect for experimenting. Don't feel like you need fancy supplies to begin; just a basic pencil and paper are enough to get started on your own doodles or fan art, whether you're trying to recreate a scene or design something completely new for a beloved character. Beyond characters, I also found myself drawn to what some might call 'object art' – essentially, drawing the world around me. My modern bedroom became a muse! I tried capturing the cozy vibe of my red bed, the green rug, and even the string lights. One of my favorite pieces was a colored pencil drawing of the view from my window, trying to capture a city skyline at sunset. It's amazing how much detail you start to notice when you're trying to draw something. Even a simple red cup on a small table can become an interesting subject! I also ventured into more stylized work. I remember doing a black and white sketch of a stylized female character, complete with a frilly outfit, striped stockings, and roller skates. It was such a creative outlet to imagine and bring these unique details to life on paper. It just goes to show you don't always need a reference; sometimes, letting your imagination run wild is the best part of the process. Now, about those drawings that make me cringe – yes, I have them too! The second drawing in my collection definitely makes me wonder what I was thinking sometimes. But you know what? That’s totally okay. Every artist has pieces they look back on and see room for improvement. It’s part of the journey, a sign of growth! Don't let the fear of a 'bad' drawing stop you. Embrace every sketch, every doodle, because each one is a step in your artistic evolution. My biggest advice for anyone wanting to start their own art journey, especially if you're feeling a bit stuck or intimidated, is just to begin. Grab that Canson Mix Media sketchbook, or any paper you have, and a pencil. Draw what genuinely excites you—whether it’s a character from your favorite show, a simple object like a cup, or a view of a beach with palm trees from your imagination. Consistency beats perfection, always. Even 10 minutes a day can make a huge difference. You'll be amazed at the progress you make and the joy you find in the process!

Why did an art teacher say "that's impossible" ?
One pen. Two tips. More color combinations than a standard 24-color set — because these colors don't just sit side by side, they transform each other. When someone who knows color is shocked, that's when you know it's real. #stationery #satisfying #artsupplies #drawing

Art and Jesus go together?
Well.. Of course it does. God is the creator of all things, how can we talk about art without mentioning the creator of it? Art is one of the most beautiful ways to express our feelings and believes. But for a while anything related to Christianity was seen as tacky, outdated or even ugly.
