... Read moreYou guys, I've been obsessed with structured gel manicures lately, and let me tell you, it's a total game-changer for nail health and longevity! If you're tired of brittle nails or polish chipping after a few days, this technique is your new best friend. I've been practicing my REAL TIME APPLICATION and wanted to share why it's so perfect and how you can achieve salon-quality results right at home. First off, what is a structured gel manicure? Basically, it involves applying a slightly thicker, builder-like gel layer over your natural nails to add strength and create a beautiful, durable apex. This helps prevent breakage and allows your natural nails to grow out beautifully. I used a clear BASE GEL (mine is 15g, clear – super important for adhesion!) and then followed up with a BUILD GEL, CLEAR MEDIUM VISCOSITY. The medium viscosity is key because it gives you enough time to work with it without it running everywhere. I've found that a good quality BASE GEL is non-negotiable for making sure everything adheres perfectly and lasts. My process starts with proper nail prep – don't skip this! Gently push back and clean your CUTICLES. This creates a clean canvas and helps prevent lifting. Then, after a thin layer of base gel, I go in with the builder gel. This is where the magic happens! I use a Dual Gel Brush & Spatula (seriously, such a versatile tool!) to sculpt the gel, creating that beautiful, strong arch. You want to make sure the gel is evenly distributed, slightly thicker in the middle, and tapered thinly at the EDGE and CUTICLE area. Once you’ve sculpted the perfect shape, it's time to CURE! I've been using my Touch Cure Mini LED lamp. It’s super handy for quick flashes. You'll want to FLASH cure each nail for a few SECONDS to hold the shape before doing a full cure. This prevents the gel from shifting. Make sure the gel is fully CURED to ensure maximum strength and shine. There’s nothing worse than uncured gel! After curing, you can wipe off the inhibition layer (if your gel has one) and then file and shape as needed before applying your color and top coat. The result? Incredibly strong, durable nails that look professionally done. I've noticed my nails growing out so much healthier, and my MANICURES last for weeks without a single chip. It truly transforms your nails. If you're looking to elevate your DIY manicures, learning this structured gel technique is definitely worth it. Enjoy those gorgeous nails!
